North East SPCA holding half-off adoption sale for adult cats

The North East SPCA is attempting a new method to warm up the heart’s of northeast residents this Valentine’s season.

For 20 adult cats, the SPCA is running a half-off sale for their adoptions, lowering the price from $150 to $75.

“Not everybody has a Valentine, so they might as well get themselves a cat,” Shelter Manager Kristy Mason told northeastNOW. “They’re all spaded, neutered, vaccinated, and ready to go. We’re hoping to get some of these cats moving into homes because they’ve been here too long; it’s not fair to them.”

Room at the SPCA Shelter on Hamilton Ave. has been scarcer since it opened in September 2019. Mason said the shelter currently has over 40 cats and around 20 dogs – ranging from kittens and puppies to adults – with a majority ready for adoption.

“We’ve done 45 adoptions so far,” she said. “We’re hoping to bump those numbers up in the coming months and keep pushing these animals to their forever homes.

The half-off adoption sale goes from Feb. 11 to 29. Potential pet parents can check out adoptable pets and fill out an application form on the North East SPCA’s website or visit the shelter Tuesday through Saturday from noon to 4:30 p.m.
