Over $12,000 going to Melfort Heliport project from progressive 50/50 fundraiser

The North Central Health Care Foundation’s (NCHCF) progressive 50/50 fundraiser has wrapped up.

The money raised from the 50/50 will go toward the Melfort Heliport Project as the NCHCF looks to reach its $600,000 goal.

NCHCF Chair Peggy George called the fundraiser a success.

“It was our first go at this. It was new to a lot of people so there were some growing pains for sure,” she said. “But all in all we’re pretty excited with the end result.”

Lane Fedoruk is the winner of this year’s 50/50, taking home $12,585 while another $12,585 will go to the heliport project.

According to George, it’s difficult to pinpoint an actual number of funds that have been raised, mainly due to gifts in kind and some outstanding commitments.

She said donations outside of the 50/50 have slowed down a little bit, mainly just due to people not being around during this time of year, but they are still getting ever closer to their goal.

“We are definitely inching along and still very confident that the donations will keep coming,” George told northeastNOW. “We will be able to start building in the spring or late summer.”

George said in a previous interview with northeastNOW if they are able to raise more than their goal, the extra funds raised will help pay for other health care needs in the region.
