Humboldt girl singing and donating at Telemiracle

Mar 5, 2020 | 5:48 PM

After years of watching Telemiracle on her television, one Humboldt girl will be there live to take the stage.

Hope Beggs will sing during the telethon presented by the Kinsmen and Kinettes of Saskatchewan for the benefit of the Kinsmen Foundation. She auditioned in November 2019 to perform during Telemiracle and had to wait an entire month to find out if she would be selected.

“I feel very honoured,” Beggs said. “I watch Telemiracle every year and I’m so excited that I actually get to be a part of it this year.”

Beggs said she’s been singing since she was a little girl, but her family didn’t know about her talent until around five years ago. They’ve been supportive of her pursuing opportunities such as singing at Humboldt Broncos junior hockey games, Saskatchewan Rush lacrosse games, and at the Bruno Cherry Festival ever since.

“I have lots of family who will probably be watching on TV,” she said. “My parents and brothers are going to be coming to the show, so will my grandma. [My friends and teachers] are very excited. When I told everyone, they were very proud.”

The special song of choice: “Brave” by Sara Bareilles. Beggs said she performed a dance with the song one year and it quickly become a favourite for being an inspirational tune.

Telemiracle won’t just receive a performance from Beggs. She’s been raising money for Telemiracle as well with a fundraiser through her dance community and a pick’em squares fundraiser online.

Beggs will present the total amount during the Telemiracle broadcast on Sunday, March 8, after her performance at 3:22 p.m.
