City council and RCMP bring details to businesses at networking night in Melfort

Some special guests were on hand at the most recent business networking meeting of the Melfort Trade Alliance.

City councillors were on hand to speak about infrastructure plans as well as an RCMP constable to provide an update on property crime for businesses.

Member Tara Muntain said it was great to get the feedback and advice.

“They could fill us in on what the city is looking at completing in the next year or two and there was discussion on tourism,” Muntain said.

The RCMP touched on preventative measures to deter opportunistic criminal activity directed at businesses.

A regular meeting followed the networking event where the Trade Alliance discussed some of the successful events they have held as of late and that momentum to continue.

“We did some planning on the car show in June and heard some great feedback from our Mardi Gras event on Feb. 29,” Muntain said.

Muntain boasted about the support from the community when it comes to making these events happen for them as well as other gatherings.

The Mardi Gras went off without a hitch while the Melfort Mustangs had their final regular season game, and a cabaret was held in junction with the Provincial Snowmobile Festival.

The Trade Alliance meets every second Wednesday at the Legion.

“We are working to unify our businesses and have a wonderful working relationship together,” she said.
