Northeast Christian Academy hosting ‘Taste of the World’ on Saturday

Mar 13, 2020 | 2:46 PM

The Northeast Christian Academy in Melfort is hosting a delicious fundraiser on the weekend.

The Taste of the World cultural supper event will take place Saturday at Northeast Christian Fellowship on Main St.

The supper serves as a fundraiser for the Northeast Christian Academy’s playground structure.

“We have food from Nigeria, from South Africa, and from the Philippines, as well as our Canadian features – some wild meat, some perogies, and other multicultural things that represent Canada nowadays,” Northeast Christian Academy principal Heather Ferguson told northeastNOW.

“The people that are bringing the meal to us are donating their food and their time and energy to making this a nice experience for us,” Ferguson said. “All of the money raised goes directly to the fund.”

There is also an opportunity to donate to the project, and income tax receipts are available. A silent auction and raffle are also featured at the supper.

Ferguson said the fenced playground area would be located behind the existing Northeast Christian Fellowship building.

“Our plans are to put a play structure with ladders and swings and climbing kinds of apparatus,” Ferguson said.

The supper event is primarily for adults, and Ferguson said it would make a great date night. There will also be a video presentation celebrating the school and what the children have done at Northeast Christian Academy.

Tickets are $25 each, and they are available at the Northeast Christian Fellowship Heaven Sent bookstore. You can also phone 306-752-3030 to purchase a ticket.
