Local recycling just became another casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic amid restrictions being put in place to help stop its spread. SARCAN Recycling has closed all of its locations across Saskatchewan.
In a media release sent out Saturday, the company explained they made the decision to protect their staff and the public from the novel coronavirus pandemic.
The company did not provide a timeline as to when they would re-open. The decision to return to service would be made after consulting with provincial health officials, the statement said.
SARCAN’s 700 employees will receive pay which is aligned with their regularly scheduled hours.
