Pause of Donations

City of Melfort asks for hold on protective equipment donations

Mar 24, 2020 | 3:08 PM

Just one day after the City of Melfort put a call out for protective equipment to businesses to try and help local health care providers, a pause is being put on that call.

“The community has responded in a big way to the city’s request for local supplies of protective equipment,” the release stated. “As a result, the local physicians and hospital staff have advised us that they have enough supplies for now.”

Supplies that were needed included masks, full face shields, bunny suits, and goggles.

The city is now asking those who may have extra protective equipment not to drop it off, but to keep them available should it be needed in the near future.

The release from the City of Melfort came shortly after the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) also asked people to pause their donation of supplies. The release said that due to visitor restrictions, they are asking for people not to deliver supplies to those facilities. The SHA said they are currently working on a safe process for donations. They will be accepting masks, non-latex gloves, and disposable gowns.
