BARWA Landfill to resume regular hours

Apr 9, 2020 | 3:28 PM

Residents in the Nipawin area will be able to use the Boreal Area Regional Waste Authority (BARWA) Landfill in time before Easter Sunday.

BARWA – a waste disposal partnership between the Town of Nipawin, R.M. of Nipawin, Village of Codette, Village of Aylsham, Resort Village of Tobin Lake, and R.M. of Connaught – announced regular hours at the landfill will resume on Saturday, April 11.

The landfill was previously only open to the public for household garbage only, effective March 14. MTN Disposal will still pick up garbage in all BARWA communities.

Nipawin Mayor Rennie Harper is on BARWA’s board. She confirmed only one customer can enter the landfill at a time due to social distancing precautions under Saskatchewan’s State of Emergency. Residents are encouraged to call the landfill’s attendant and pay gate fees by credit card only before entering the grounds. BARWA said cash will not be accepted until further notice.
