Mother's Day gift boxes

NEOSS selling Mother’s Day gift boxes full of products from local businesses

North East Outreach and Support Services (NEOSS) is offering a chance to shop from home for Mother’s Day, while still supporting local businesses.

NEOSS put together Mother’s Day gift boxes with a variety of items. The smaller gift box is valued at around $100 but only sells for $50, while the large box is $100 and features around $200 worth of items.

Executive Director Louise Schweitzer told northeastNOW the gift boxes are an opportunity for people to shop locally without having to leave the house. She said the boxes also allow people who live outside of the area, even in other provinces, to show how much their mom means to them.

“We do have very limited amounts of boxes,” Schweitzer said. There are just 25 boxes of each size being made, and she said there are only five or six of the $100 boxes remaining.

You can order them through their Facebook page, or by calling the NEOSS office at 306-752-9464, Jennifer at 306-874-7232, or Kathryn at 306-921-9966. E-transfers are accepted. NEOSS will deliver the boxes to your mom.

“A neat way to, again, bring some social distance happiness to your mom which is very, very important I think at this time,” Schweitzer said.

She said they are proud that the products in the boxes are all from local sources.

“We’ve really tailored [the boxes] around a lot of our small businesses, our home-based businesses, the ones that are truly affected by the COVID situation,” Schweitzer said.

There will also be a draw made for a surprise box, which will be given to one of the individuals who receives a Mother’s Day gift box.

Schweitzer said the Mother’s Day gift boxes are a way to support local businesses, get some positivity going, and a chance to pay it forward as a random act of kindness.
