Melody Motors in Melfort is helping local businesses and organizations with personal protective equipment as the Re-Open Saskatchewan Plan continues to move forward.

After Ford started making face shields for workers, it became clear many were in need of the masks.

“The dealers were asked if they needed any,” said Melody Motors General Manager Ken Madraga. “We absolutely put our hand up and said that ‘For sure we could use them’. So, what we’ve done is, we’re giving them to the people who need them most.”

As a result, Melody Motors was able to donate 100 masks to Melfort Ambulance. Madraga said some businesses would use the shields along with a mask to help keep them and their customers safe.

He said it really is for the whole community to be able to get back to a new sense of normalcy.

“The purpose of course is to make everybody feel safe,” Madraga said.

Not only did Melfort Ambulance get numerous masks, but other businesses in the area also received som. Madraga said they got another shipment of masks to donate, and those are being sent out currently.

“With the response we’ve had on Facebook for other businesses that would like to get some,” he said. “We’re going to put in for even a few more.”

Anyone who is interested in receiving face shields can contact Melody Motors.

Madraga thanked those who have continued to adjust during ever changing circumstances with COVID-19.
