R.M. of Nipawin implements fire ban

May 18, 2020 | 9:07 AM

With its neighbour – the Rural Municipality of Torch River No. 488 – under an emergency wildfire advisory, the R.M. of Nipawin No. 487 has implemented an immediate fire ban.

In a release on May 17, the R.M. stated it believes extreme fire hazard conditions exist within its area.

The ban was put in place on May 17 and will be in effect until further notice. No person shall allow a fire of any kind in the open air to be started, which includes fires contained within fire pits and solid fuel burning appliances.

All burning permits issued for the burning of material within the R.M. are also suspended until the ban is lifted. Lighting and discharge of fireworks is also prohibited.
