NESPCA Bottle Drive

North East SPCA holding bottle drive in Melfort on Saturday

May 28, 2020 | 10:07 AM

The North East SPCA is offering to take your stash of bottles off your hands.

The organization is holding a bottle drive in Melfort on Saturday, May 30.

“We’ll have people come around and pick up any bottles that people want to donate to the SPCA,” shelter manager Kristy Mason told northeastNOW.

Bottles, cans and other recyclables can be left in bags at the end of the driveway before 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Mason said many people are running out of room to store bottles and cans in garages and sheds.

“With SARCAN being closed [due to COVID-19], those bottles do pile up pretty quick, and there is nowhere to take them right now, so a lot of people don’t have the space to store them,” Mason said. “So it’s definitely a nice way to kind of donate without really spending any money on us.”

Mason said they will sort through the bags at a later date, and all money raised through the bottle drive will go to the SPCA’s general programming.
