Vancouver company fined after 2017 incident in Hudson Bay Sask.

A company based out of Vancouver, B.C. has been fined $182,000 after an incident in Hudson Bay, Sask. in 2017.

Weyerhaeuser Company Limited pleaded guilty in Hudson Bay Provincial Court on Nov. 26, 2019 to one count under Occupational Health and Safety Regulations of failing in the provision and maintenance of a plant, systems of work, and working environments that ensure the health, safety, and welfare at work of the employers workers, resulting in the injury of a worker.

The incident took place on Oct. 5, 2017 in Hudson Bay as a working sustained serious injuries after being impacted by a forklift.

The fine was $130,000 with a $52,000 surcharge.
