Prairie North Coop Agro Team gain training in emergency response

Five members of the Prairie North Coop Agro team attended emergency response training for anhydrous ammonia last week in Strasbourg.

Agro Division Manager Larry Kohl told northeastNOW it is important to have members trained with live product and emergency equipment that is available in the local facility.

“If we had a rollover of a truck on a highway or a release in a farmer’s field, we could safely execute procedures to stop the leak,” Kohl said.

If having the training has the potential to save a life, Kohl said it is a win-win for the coop and the community.

“It really gave our team members get a good feel for what they are up against and they gained a lot of experience working with the product,” Kohl said. “Moving forward I think it’s going to be a valuable asset to the community.”

Members in attendance along with Kohl were Curtis Mills, Shane Klepak, Greg Flasko, and Richard Pierce.

“I was the only one that had this training prior to this date so we had four new individuals able to gain a respect for the hands-on training and equipment to handle these situations,” Kohl said.

Kohl added this is another way that PNC is leading in the ag industry.
