Fuel Good Day donations ‘extra special’ for non-profit organizations amid coronavirus pandemic

Recipients of Co-op’s Fuel Good Day fundraiser are normally appreciative of the donations, although the gifts carry extra meaning in 2020.

North East Outreach and Support Services (NEOSS) received over $10,000 from Prairie North Co-op’s Fuel Good Day initiative on Sept. 15. Ten cents per litre sold and other fundraising methods, including barbecues and ice cream sales, goes to non-profit organizations of the local Co-op’s choice.

NEOSS Executive Director Louise Schweitzer said Prairie North Co-op has sponsored and donated to their fundraisers in the past, but the Fuel Good Day donation is “an extra special gift.”

“Because of the pandemic and fundraising challenges that all non-profits are facing, we were very honoured they chose to help,” Schweitzer said. “[The donation] will go directly into client services… our shelter and outreach team working to assist us to help victims of interpersonal and domestic violence. [Co-op] is very supportive of us in any way we ask.”
