The community of Melfort is being asked to submit questions ahead of the All Candidates forum for the municipal election.

President of the Melfort Trade Alliance (MTA) Tyler Fahlman told northeastNOW questions for mayoral and council candidates can be sent in until Oct. 14.

“We will be selecting the best questions to put toward the candidates at the event,” Fahlman said.

The forum will take place at the Kerry Vickar Centre on Oct. 21. but there will be limited seating open to the public.

“We don’t know the exact numbers right now because things are continuing to change daily,” Fahlman said. “Once we get closer to the event we will release how a person could be a member of the audience.”

The forum will be streamed online as well. Details on candidates who have put their names forward in the municipal election so far can be found here.

The MTA also have their annual general meeting on Oct. 27 at the KVC as well.

“We do have a few board positions that are going to be coming available if any business owner or leader would like to step-up,” Fahlman said. “Our goal is still to become the Chamber of Commerce for the Melfort area in the near future.”

Fahlman said there will be two board members stepping back to pursue other endeavors in business and personal lives.

“We are looking for energetic people that want to make a difference for the business community,” Fahlman said.

Members will need to be business owners or high level of management in a locally owned company.

Communication will be sent out to local businesses in the coming weeks with those details, if RSVP numbers are high for the AGM, an online option will be given as well.
