Collective Soul Society in Tisdale opening full-time

Nov 3, 2020 | 3:00 PM

Formerly known as the Sweet Cup Cafe, Collective Soul Society in Tisdale will have full-time hours starting Monday.

The coffee shop underwent a re-brand over the past couple of months and had been open only on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for take-out options.

Owner Andrea Lutz said the inside will look a lot different than what her customers are used to seeing.

“It’s going to be more comfortable, couch seating and better for the social distancing so a lot more space and a lot less seating,” Lutz said. “Just getting back to a regular coffee shop vibe with a different look and offering.”

The doors were shut to the shop in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was cleared out of the restaurant style seating. Lutz was offering some yoga, workshops, and meditation type classes in September and October.

“It’s just too small of a space for that and we didn’t have seating going on before so kind of worked out but we want to bring seating back,” Lutz said. “It’s getting colder and people want a space where they can enjoy their coffee and enjoy that human connection.”

Inviting the public to connect with others is what Lutz is very passionate about in her coffee shop and has taken the promotion of that a step further with live coffee talk videos each morning on Facebook as well.

“That is really what the world needs so much now especially when we are being encouraged to social distance, stay at home and keep away from each other,” Lutz said. “We still have the opportunity [to be together] as long as we are smart about it.”

The live videos have also allowed Lutz to make a customer connection and get feedback from them on what way the shop should go when it comes to hours and seating.

Lutz said she has taken out the full lunch menu that the Sweet Cup offered but there will be grab and go options as well as a daily soup and sandwich special.

The shop will be open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“I’d just like to invite everyone to come check the new space and the new vibe,” Lutz said.
