Flu Clinics

Walk-ins welcome this afternoon at Melfort flu clinic

Nov 12, 2020 | 9:51 AM

The flu clinic at the Kerry Vickar Centre in Melfort today will accept walk-ins.

From noon to 3 p.m., the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is allowing walk-ins for influenza vaccinations with a decrease in people coming to the clinics and instead going to local pharmacies and making line-ups less of a concern.

The SHA had announced at the beginning of the flu clinic season that only those with appointments would be able to utilize the clinics due to the COVID-19 health guidelines.

Hand washing stations and appropriate cleaning between clients and families are all in place and the public is asked to bring masks and their health card with them for efficient and effective vaccinations.

The SHA is encouraging residents to get their flu vaccinations and are concerned of a “twindemic,” which consists of dueling COVID-19 and flu outbreaks that would place a tremendous burden on Saskatchewan’s healthcare system.

The clinic scheduled for Nov. 19 has been cancelled and a final clinic will take place in Melfort on Dec. 3., from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Elsewhere in the northeast, clinics remain in each community:

Hudson Bay – Nov. 17 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., at Brooks Hall.

Nipawin – Nov. 20 at Nipawin Evergreen Centre, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Tisdale – Nov. 19 and Dec. 2 at Civic Centre, all from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
