Wee Beginnings Nursery School in Melfort finds success in new location

A new location for the Wee Beginnings Nursery School in Melfort was prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pre-school moved to 219 2nd Ave. South in the fall after losing their previous spot when schools closed in the spring.

Teacher and Director Rebekah Davidson told northeastNOW things are working out well despite the move.

“We spent the summer looking for a new place and we actually didn’t get started until November in our new place but we are loving the new space,” Davidson said.

The programs now take place in the basement of a church and the past two months of classes have gone smoothly and will resume for the new year tomorrow.

“We still have low enrolment but we have a nice big space for the kids,” Davidson said.

On a typical year, class sizes range from five to eight children. Classes are between two and three children this year.

“We tend to keep that low just because we find it is easier for the children to make friends and learn and we just have lots of fun,” Davidson said.

Wee Beginnings works with children that are two to four years old between September and June and two to five years old over the summer break.

“We do an educational program that is focused on sensory and gross motor instead of having children sit at desks,” Davidson said. “We have a very active program for them.”
