Mustangs commit B.C. defenceman for 2021/2022

The Melfort Mustangs have made an addition to their blue line for 2021/2022.

2003-born Leith Olafson has committed to the club for next season.

The Kimberley, B.C. native spent the 2019/2020 season with his hometown Dynamiters of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) of B.C.’s Junior B circuit. He had seven assists in 33 games that season.

“Leith is a big, strong defenceman who already has junior experience,” Mustangs head coach and general manager Trevor Blevins said in a release. “He plays the game the right way and has offensive upside. He plays hard and will bring compete to our lineup.”

Olafson, who’s listed at 6-foot-1, 190 pounds, added two assists in four playoff games with the Dynamiters as well last season.
