Queen’s Bar and Grill in Star City burns down

Mar 13, 2021 | 4:12 PM

Queen’s Bar and Grill in Star City burned down on Friday evening.

Emergency crews responded to the fire just after 7 p.m. Friday and the fire was put out at approximately 4 a.m. Saturday. The Queen’s Bar and Grill uploaded a video of the fire on their Facebook page.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Christina Abbott is a firefighter with the Star City Fire Brigade and she helped put out the blaze.

“It’s devastating,” Abbott said. “I’m thankful that nobody was hurt.”

No one was in the building and the business was closed at the time of the incident. SaskPower had a scheduled outage for the town.

“It’s pretty hard on the community,” Abbott added. “Everybody would gather there just to get together.”

Alanna Mooney is a friend of the owner and said she organized a GoFundMe fundraiser because they lost everything.

“We all need to rally together and support them just as they support the community,” Mooney added. “If it happened to me, I would hope someone would do the same for me.”

“Anything that we can do will help them get through this hard time,” Abbott said. “We’re just going to try and band together and help them get what they need right now.”
