Humboldt’s Mark of Excellence Awards honours local businesses

Apr 7, 2021 | 5:55 PM

The 22nd annual Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce’s Mark of Excellence Awards celebrated individuals, business, and organizations in the area last week.

The awards ceremony was held virtually but was fairly similar to past years.

The Battlefords Chamber of Commerce decided the winners of the 12 awards.

“We accepted the judging off-site,” Brent Fitzpatrick, the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Director said. “All of the applications and nominations are sent to North Battleford. It’s great that they are able to do that for us. They judge them all and send us back a list of the winners.”

Humboldt Mayor Michael Behiel said he will send a commemorative coin to each of the winners in the next couple weeks.

“The award of excellence is a highly respected award presented to businesses in the area that best illustrate all the qualities that Humboldt has to offer,” Behiel added. “This is an opportunity to celebrate and recognize them for their hard work and dedication during such a difficult year.”

Darlene and Dave Eberle were inducted into the Humboldt Business Hall of Fame during the event. The couple moved to Humboldt in 1984 and have been involved with many local boards, businesses, and organizations that involve fields such as health, education and sports.

“The city of Humboldt and area has greatly benefited from Darlene and Dave Eberle,” Fitzpatrick said. “The Humboldt Business Hall of Fame was established by the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce 10 years ago to recognize those who have shaped the business landscape in the Humboldt area. Nominations for the hall of fame are accepted all year at the chamber office.”

The ceremony can be viewed on the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce’s Facebook page.
