‘Get in there and utilize it’: Humboldt’s mayor happy and excited for walk-in clinic

Apr 8, 2021 | 4:00 PM

Thursday marked the first day the walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinic was open in the City of Humboldt.

Mayor Michael Behiel told northeastNOW he’s very happy and excited to have a walk-in clinic in his community, and he gave credit to the government and the Sask. Health Authority for making it a reality.

“They’ve worked extremely hard to pump this out as fast as they can to protect everybody,” Behiel said. “So, they deserve a great deal of appreciation and thanks.”

A few dozen cars were lined up on Thursday as people over 55 were able to get their shots at the Humboldt Uniplex. Behiel said he hopes as more people get vaccinated through these walk-in clinics, it will bring the age eligibility down much quicker.

Behiel said he still encourages people to book their appointments for vaccines, but they now have more options.

“If that walk-in clinic is open, and you haven’t been successful in booking an appointment, get in there and utilize it, because it is an option for you.”

The clinics are for those 55 years of age and over for the time being and ID and health cards are required at the clinic.
