McNab Regional Park in Watson upgrading clubhouse

Apr 8, 2021 | 5:00 PM

The clubhouse at McNab Regional Park in Watson will be getting some upgrades thanks to new funding from the provincial and federal governments.

On-demand water heaters, LED lights, and a high-efficiency furnace will be installed. The upgrades will also include new doors, new siding, appropriate ventilation and the shower house will be replaced at the clubhouse.

“The showers will be inclusive to families and all sorts of people,” McNab Regional Park manager Kim Mitchell said. “It will be for anybody.”

The Saskatchewan government will contribute $82,920 to the project with the federal investment contributing $99,514.

“We are really excited,” Mitchell said.

Work is expected to start when the pool closes at the end of August or the beginning of September.

“We have no interest in putting big machines there with little kids and families around,” Mitchell said. “We are still in the planning stage…We’re hoping to have the project done by next spring so we can use it.”

The project must be completed by March 31, 2024 to be funded. The estimated total cost of the upgrades is approximately $248,000.

This government funding is part of the Investing in Canada Plan, which supports infrastructure projects in rural and northern communities.
