Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce hires Lee as Executive Director

The Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce (MTACC) has hired its first executive director.

Cam Lee is taking the position as the MTACC continues to build a new chamber in Melfort from the ground up. Lee says the MTACC is an organization that can really help businesses in the area.

“It’s an organization that I think really has an ability to really look out for local businesses,” Lee told northeastNOW, “hear their concerns, hear what they have to say, and represent them, and look out for their interests.”

Prior to taking the position with the MTACC, Lee had spent 18 years working for the local radio stations in Melfort. He said that while this position is something he’s never done, he’s excited for it and it will be a bit of a learning process.

Lee and the MTACC are building the new organization from the ground up after Melfort had been without a chamber of commerce for a few years. Lee said they want businesses to know that this is a new entity and he wants to listen to local businesses.

“Open communication and dialogue is the big thing,” he said. “I know that there have been some concerns in the past that perhaps businesses concerns or comments or questions weren’t being addressed.”

President of the MTACC Tyler Fahlman said there were a number of good candidates for the position but having a local person such as Lee was important.

“He knows the community, he knows business owners,” Fahlman said. “He’s been a member in and around the community for a long time.”

The next steps for Lee and the MTACC are continuing to build the business plan, planning some virtual networking nights, and talking to businesses about joining the chamber.
