When tidying your homes and yards this spring, please remember that open burning of waste is illegal in Saskatchewan including:
• plastics;
• household trash;
• hazardous substances;
• carpets;
• shingles;
• siding;
• painted/treated lumber;
• railway ties; and
• tires.
The health and environmental effects of burning garbage include links to cancer, exposure to carbon monoxide and the settlement of pollutants on crops.
