Spruce Haven Splash Park opens in Melfort for third season

Jun 2, 2021 | 5:00 PM

Perfect timing for the Spruce Haven Splash Park in Melfort to open for the season as the province endures a heatwave.

Facilities Manager Leonard Whitney said the hope was to open to park for Tuesday, June 1, but some water issues had pushed things back to Wednesday, June 2.

“Actually we had kids the second we had it running,” he laughed. “Had kids all over it so it was nice to see.”

It’s the third season for the Spruce Haven Splash Park and with the first season being abbreviated, and last year having COVID-19 hanging over the world, this would seem to be the first real full season for the splash park as restrictions loosen across the province.

“It’ll be great when we can pack it right full of people again and enjoy it,” Whitney said.

However, restrictions do remain in place for the time being in Saskatchewan and Whitney said people using the park must continue to follow those guidelines, including keeping gathering sizes down and remembering social distancing.

The Spruce Haven Splash Park is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
