Keep on Fighting Clothing Company donates first batch of funds to Tisdale Suicide Awareness Committee

The Keep on Fighting Clothing Company has donated their first batch of funds to mental health initiatives in the community.

The $1,000 donation is going to the Tisdale Suicide Awareness Committee to help with mental health and suicide awareness for youth in the Tisdale area.

Keep on Fighting Clothing Company Founder Luc Marleau said donating a portion of sales to help with youth in the community was important to him so that other youth don’t have to struggle like he did.

“That’s when I was struggling…In grade 9 is when it all started,” Marleau told northeastNOW. “If I had maybe used these resources, it may have went a different way. I might have been able to find better ways to cope. So, I think putting it back into the schools will help.”

The funding will help youth who are struggling, help identify those struggling with mental health, and hopefully bring in presentations on the topic as well.

Andrea Staples with the Tisdale Suicide Awareness Committee said they are thrilled with Marleau’s donation and it will help the well being of Tisdale and area youth.

“We recognize that COVID restrictions have impacted all of us but many youth who are so accustomed to social interactions have experienced life altering circumstances. We are hopeful that this fall we will be able to organize some meaningful youth events.”

Marleau said donating close to home was important as that is where a lot of the purchases of his clothing line have come from. He said the support has been overwhelming during his first month in business.

“We want people to recognize that mental health is important,” he said. “And that with this company that I’ve created, we can make a difference, especially in the area, and hopefully branch out to other areas as well.”

Currently, the clothing for Keep on Fighting Clothing Company is sold online, as well as at SpaFit by Linda in Melfort. Marleau said he is working on having more clothing being sold at other retailers, including the Tisdale Riverside Golf Course. He said there are also plans in the works for a golf tournament, and other events, to help raise more funds for mental health awareness.
