FunZone in Tisdale to kick off in July

Jun 10, 2021 | 5:00 PM

FunZone in Tisdale will be back this summer.

FunZone is a free kids program which includes water activities, story time and crafts and will kick off on July 5.

“It’s designed as an alternative daytime program,” Lesley Thibault, Tisdale’s Director of Recreation and Parks said. “Anybody should be able to attend because it’s free. We do welcome people from the rural area as well if they want to bring their kids in.”

The program will take place from Monday to Thursday until August 19 and is for ages five to 12.

“It’s just another activity that we wanted to offer in our community,” Thibault said. “Our activities, crafts, playtime and snacks all revolve around a theme that we set for the week.”

Funzone is financed by the Town of Tisdale and donations, and the program received a $5,000 grant from the Community Initiatives Fund.

The program will usually be held at Lions Spray Park.

“They do have some excursions around town as well,” Thibault said. “Other people are definitely welcome to enter the space [Lions Spray Park] while the program is in progress.”

People can sign up on the FunZone Facebook page once registration is available.

“We ask that people register so we have an idea, and we can control our numbers that way,” Thibault said. “We don’t totally know what we’re going to allow for daily spots.”

Thibault said COVID-19 restrictions will be followed.
