Concerts to return to Danceland this summer

Jun 25, 2021 | 5:11 PM

People will soon be dancing again at Danceland in Manitou Beach.

The first concert has been booked at the legendary dance hall since October 24, 2020.

Saskatchewan rock bands Johnny 2 Fingers & the Deformities, and Cullen & the Cannonballs are scheduled to play at the venue on July 24.

Danceland social media and office assistant Logan Rohatyn booked the show and said he is thrilled to have live music coming back to Manitou Beach.

“It will be a great show with a lot of energy,” Rohatyn added.

Danceland doesn’t plan on enforcing COVID-19 restrictions during the concert and is complying with government orders.

“We’re not going to require masks or social distancing or anything like that,” Rohatyn said.

The provincial government announced Sunday that all public health orders will be removed on July 11.

“I’m just overjoyed that we can get going,” Rohatyn said.

No dancing was allowed at the venue’s October show.

The upcoming concert is scheduled to start at 8 pm and the cover charge is $15.

There are currently no other events booked at the dance hall, but staff are hoping to announce more concerts and dances soon.

“I’ve missed being able to go and see all the excitement on people’s faces when they are dancing,” Rohatyn said. “We may have a dance on the August long weekend. We are working hard to get things back to normal.”
