Rotary Club of Nipawin raising funds to improve East Pleasantview Park

Jun 30, 2021 | 6:02 PM

The Rotary Club of Nipawin is working to make improvements to the town’s East Pleasantview Park.

The club is raising money for possible upgrades such as a zipline, benches, a shelter, swings, slides and other new playground equipment.

“This park needs to be overhauled,” Rotary Club of Nipawin representative Joyce Watts said. “It’s very dated. We’re trying to do all the fundraising so we reduce the burden on the taxpayers.”

“We’re still in the planning stages,” Watts said. “We’re obtaining some quotes and options from a playground supplier.”

Watts said the project may cost approximately $200,000.

“We realize that it could cost a lot, but it’s unknown at this time,” Watts added.

The budget is expected to be finished by the end of August and then the fundraising will officially begin.

The club is hoping construction will begin in the spring of 2022 and be completed in 2023.

The club’s 75th anniversary was on June 1, and Watts said improving the park is a great way to celebrate.

Anyone interested in donating to help improve the park can contact the Rotary Club of Nipawin on their Facebook page or by calling 306-276-3195.

“If a family wants to put in some funds towards the project, they will get recognized,” Watts said. “We will put their name on a piece of equipment or whatever it covers. There will be a sign recognizing the donors.”
