MTACC holding Show and Shine and Touch-a-Truck together in August

The Melfort Trade Alliance Chamber of Commerce will run two of its big automotive events together this summer.

The 31st Annual Show and Shine will take place on Aug. 6, along with the Touch-a-Truck event that has been run over the past few years.

After having to postpone the Show and Shine due to COVID-19 restrictions, the MTACC decided to make the event a combo with Touch-a-Truck. According to executive director Cam Lee, it helps the group simplify their planning this year as it’s the first major event for the group. Both being vehicle-related events was a natural fit as well.

“We thought it was kind of a neat way to kind of incorporate most of the Melfort business core in one event,” Lee told northeastNOW.

The Show and Shine will take place at its normal location, on Main Street near Memorial Gardens, while the Touch-a-Truck event will be held at the Melfort mall parking lot.

Lee said vehicle lovers from around the province are excited for the event and he said they hope the event has a good turnout with the addition of the Touch-a-Truck. In the past, Touch a Truck usually welcomes large vehicles like fire trucks, farm equipment, and more.

As COVID-19 restrictions ease, Lee said it will be nice to see the event actually taking place.

“It’s been almost two years since we’ve been allowed to do anything, really,” Lee said. “And it’ll just be nice to be out and hopefully enjoy some nice weather and take in the event.”

The MTACC is also looking for volunteers for the event on Aug. 6 as well as sponsors. To get involved, you can contact Lee at trademelfort@melfort.ca.
