The federal government is investing $480,000 over three years for PARTNERS Family Services in Humboldt to help victims of sexual violence.

The non-profit organization is using the funding to provide crisis response, counseling, and sexual violence education.

“PARTNERS Family Services thanks Justice Canada and Women and Gender Equality Canada for recognizing the need for dedicated sexual violence supports and education in rural central Saskatchewan,” Hayley Kennedy, PARTNERS Family Services Executive Director, said in a release. “We are grateful for the opportunity to add additional staff to our team so that we may ensure timely access to services for those who need it. As an organization, we understand that the root causes and traumatic impact of sexual violence on individuals, families and communities is deeply complex. This new funding will ensure that we are able to continue to meet the needs of individuals and families in our communities.”

PARTNERS Family Services also approved an operating budget of $1.1 million for 2021-22 on June 22.

“Our operating budget of over $1 million is a significant milestone for the organization as it represents an investment into our communities by multiple governments and private sector supporters to address domestic violence, family unity, parenting, crisis response, and mental health services,” Kennedy said. “We recognize the responsibility that has been entrusted to our organization to provide extensive services on behalf of our funders, at no cost to our clientele.”

The organization said their staff have continued to provide uninterrupted services during the COVID-19 pandemic.
