Tisdale car club going ahead with second annual car show this Sunday

Car enthusiasts are invited to bring their rides to the Tisdale Museum grounds this Sunday.

The second annual Doghide River Rods and Relics car show is hoping to meet last years registration of around 100 cars.

Organizer Darrell Davis told northeastNOW they were a little overwhelmed with how well the show was received last summer.

“The first show was way bigger than we expected it to be so hopefully this one is as good,” Davis said. “We are a little more prepared this time so if we could get 100 cars we would be happy, but if we get 50, we are still happy.”

Conservative party candidate for the electoral district of Prince Albert Randy Hoback is having a barbecue at the grounds that afternoon as well with proceeds going to the Tisdale and District Museum.

Volunteers at the museum help with making the event happen, according to Davis.

“We are lucky to work with the museum, the volunteers help us out with the event a lot and the car club is able to help out with the museum grounds as well so both groups are able to help each other out,” Davis said. “It is a great venue to have a car show so it is a win-win and works out well.”

The event will also feature kids face painting and live music from local band Bar Fly.

A threshing demonstration will be happening at the car show on Sunday between sets from the band.

The Tisdale Motor Speedway will have stock car races over the weekend too, so Davis encourages checking out both events.

There was a little bit of hesitation with going forward this year but with no restrictions on outdoor events the club felt it was safe to go ahead with the event.

“There is nothing car people like better than driving their cars and talking about their cars,” Davis said. “An opportunity like a car show lets us do both.”

The car club has also been meeting every Thursday for coffee and cars at local restaurant parking lots. The club rotates between three different locations.

Coffee and cars is open to anyone who wants to bring their old car or truck and join the group, according to Davis.

“We have cars come from as far as Birch Hills, Zenon Park, Arborfield, Melfort, and Nipawin,” Davis said. “I find with coffee and cars being every week, we see different cars coming each time.”

A coffee and cars event made its way over to Caleb Village in Tisdale last Friday which Davis said was well attended.

“I think the residents enjoyed seeing the old cars and I think they had a good time,” Davis said.
