Mustangs acquire Kevin Minnoch from Sherwood Park Crusaders

The Melfort Mustangs have acquired 2002-born defenceman Kevin Minnoch from the Sherwood Park Crusaders for a player development fee.

Minnoch, a Sherwood Park product, spent the past two seasons playing for his hometown Crusaders. Minnoch brings good experience with him, having played for the Crusaders at three different ages.

As a 17-year-old in 2019/2020, Minnoch had four assists in 17 games. Last season, the 5’11” blueliner scored one goal and added two assists for three points in 16 games. He also played one game as a call-up for the Crusaders as a 16-year-old in 2018/2019.

When asked about his new acquisition, head coach and general manager Trevor Blevins had this to say.

“Kevin will bring speed and quickness to our defence with veteran experience,” Blevins told northeastNOW. “He makes plays and will definitely contribute offensively for our team this year. We are excited to see what he can do in a Mustang uniform.”

Over the long weekend, the Mustangs continued with their fall camp, having an intrasquad game take place on Sunday.

Tonight will mark the Mustangs’ first preseason game of the year with the visiting La Ronge Ice Wolves coming to town for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop.
