Melfort Guides and Brownies unit service project spreads kindness to healthcare workers

Sep 25, 2021 | 12:00 PM

The Brownies and Guides units of Girl Guides in Melfort were able to provide some Hope for healthcare workers through one of their service projects.

The group made key chains with a charm on them containing the word Hope.

Brownies unit two leader, Jenn Pasieka said the key chain charm aimed to symbolize the message that was displayed in lights at the hospital for several months.

“Hope was a strong word for the nurses and doctors through the pandemic,” Pasieka said. “We wanted to provide them our guiding light and hope they continue their strength.”

The members of both Brownies and Guides for 2020-2021 were provided the supplies and made about 10 to 15 key chains each. In total, 100 key chains were made and delivered to the Melfort Union Hospital.

“The girls did an amazing job on them and we have received a lot of positive feedback from the nurses and hospital staff so far,” Pasieka said.

The project was aimed at providing kindness while thanking healthcare workers for their dedication since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
