Motor vehicle accident claims the life of a seven-year-old

A motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian has resulted in the death of a seven-year-old girl.

At approximately 7:35 p.m. on Oct. 11, Wadena RCMP responded to a collision involving a motor vehicle and a pedestrian about 10 km west of Wadena.

The pedestrian was struck by a vehicle traveling eastward. While awaiting the arrival of emergency responders, the driver remained on the scene. Local RCMP, EMS, and fire station staff responded to the call.

A seven-year-old female pedestrian from the Wadena area was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her family has been notified.

The Wadena RCMP and Collision Reconstruction specialists closed Highway 5 for approximately five hours during their initial investigation.

At this time, the circumstances of the incident are still unfolding, and no further information is available.
