The Humboldt Broncos scored some valuable points on the road last night as they work to finish off their Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League regular season.

Facing the Hawks in Nipawin, the Broncos earned another two points in 6-0 win at Centennial Arena.

On the offense, Jerzy Orchard earned his second, third, and fourth goals of his Broncos career for his first hat trick for the team in 16 games.

Lucas Ceccarelli found the back of the net for two goals of his own with 18 goals to his name this season. Connor McGrath also scored for his 30th of the season.

Ramsay stopped all 22 shots on goal from the Hawks for his fourth shutout win of the season.

Orchard told northeastNOW that things just worked and everyone played well together as he got a couple of good bounces to find the back of the net with the defence worked to limit the Hawks’ chances against Ramsay.

“We didn’t give them a whole lot to even get into our zone in the first place so and I think just when we had our chances, we buried so you know, right up from the D to the forwards, I think is a good team game.”

The Green and Gold are working to make some headway as they battle for first place with the Estevan Bruins. Both teams are number one in the divisions with the Bruins in first with 80 points and 38 wins in 51 games while the Broncos are at 78 points and 39 wins in 51 games.

Orchard said keeping up this momentum and getting a streak going is going to be key as they work to win back first place against the Bruins.

The Broncos are back on the road for a trip to Kindersley tonight before Kindersley heads into Humboldt for a Family Day game on Monday.
