Hawks look for more success in Flin Flon
The Nipawin Hawks will look for their second straight, and fourth win in five games Wednesday in Flin Flon.
The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL) club took two of three games last week, including Saturday’s overtime thriller over the Melfort Mustangs on home ice. Head coach Tad Kozun said the team’s resiliency is starting to show after a tough 6-0 loss Friday to Humboldt.
“I thought that was our best 60-minute game all year,” Kozun said. “We’ve always talked about where we have a good period, then a bad period, then another good one. I thought we put a full 60 together and we got rewarded, which was great to see.”
Nipawin has eight wins on the road this season, two of those have come in Flin Flon including a 4-2 win on Feb. 15. The recent stretch of solid play has kept the Hawks playoff hopes alive. The team is eight points back with seven games to play. Kozun said no matter the numbers the team needs to keep progressing.
