Mustangs going to ‘keep it simple’ in final regular season meeting with Ice Wolves
The Melfort Mustangs hit the road on Wednesday night to La Ronge for the final time this regular season.
This will be the eighth meeting of the season between the division rivals that has resulted in an exciting and tight series. La Ronge holds a 4-3 series lead, but five of the games have been decided by just one goal with three of those needing overtime to decide them. Melfort won the most recent meeting on Saturday, Feb. 26 by a 4-3 score in a shootout.
Mustang forward, and former Ice Wolf, Nolan Doell said it was nice to get the monkey off the back after falling in four straight to La Ronge, and losing their five previous shootout games. The win was also the Mustangs third in a row, and fourth in their last five game.
“We’ve got our confidence back,” Doell said. “Obviously we just want to keep it simple going into that barn, and come out with two points, so that’s kind of the game plan.”
