New cannabis store, agreement with Hawks being discussed at latest Nipawin council meeting

Apr 25, 2022 | 8:00 AM

Nipawin could soon be getting a second cannabis store.

The town’s council meets on Monday to discuss whether to allow the retail store open.

Reds Cannabis has applied to set up shop at the intersection of First Avenue West and First Street West.

The town’s administration is recommending council approve the request.

The meeting will also see the Nipawin Hawks renew their agreement with the town to operate out of the Centennial and Jubilee arenas.

This is a three-year agreement, identical to the one the town and Hawks agreed on back in 2019.

Along with the arrangement, the team will soon be getting a new furnace for their main dressing room.

Council will decide between three offers, ranging between $5,855 and $6,979. The administration is recommending they agree on the cheapest offer.

Also on the agenda is the purchase of a new pump for the town swimming pool and a request from the Dam Smokehouse to open a patio from May to September.

The meeting gets underway at 7 p.m.
