Charges laid following attempted robberies in Nipawin

Nipawin RCMP have apprehended and charged a man after he attempted to rob several individuals and break into a local business.

Nipawin RCMP responded the reports on April 23 around 12:30 a.m. when it was reported that Lucas Daniels was on First Avenue West in Nipawin and armed with a knife. Fortunately, nobody involved in the initial robbery attempts was hurt.

Officers located Daniels during the attempted break in and he was arrested shortly after he fled from officers.

Daniels, 32, of Shoal Lake, Saskatchewan is charged with:

  • one count, robbery;
  • three counts, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose;
  • one count, carry a concealed weapon;
  • one count, break and enter;
  • two counts, assault police officer;
  • one count, possession of break-in instruments;
  • two counts, disguise with intent;
  • two counts, resist arrest;
  • one count, possession of ammunition contrary to order.

Daniels has been remanded into custody until his next appearance in Nipawin Provincial Court on May 4.

Nipawin RCMP continue to investigate this incident. Investigators ask anyone that witnessed the robberies who have not yet talked to police to contact the Nipawin Detachment at 306-862-6270.
