Three northeast hockey players ranked ahead of NHL draft

Three hockey players with ties to the northeast are getting noticed ahead of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.

Humboldt Broncos forwards Matthew Perkins and Connor McGrath were each ranked within the top 150 North American skaters by the NHL Central Scouting Service.

Perkins came in at #106. In 57 games last season, he scored 23 goals and added 36 assists for 59 points.

McGrath, who was ranked as #146 among North American skater, lead the SJHL in points. In 56 games, he scored 35 goals and assisted on another 49 for a total of 84 points.

Also on the list, ranked #107, is Swift Current Bronco Connor Hvidston. The Tisdale native had 13 goals and 19 assists for 32 points in 58 games in his first season for the WHL team.

The 2022 NHL Draft will take place in Montreal on July 7 and 8. This will be the first draft held in person since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
