Shortly after having four of their players named to Team Sask, the Tisdale Tornados are making headlines again as three of their graduating players have signed with Canadian Junior Football League (CJFL) squads.

When asked about the three, head coach, Keenan Carrier, said he’s beyond proud for all three, who get to extend their playing days past just the high school level.

“I know my coaching staff, their parents, the rest of the team, the whole community, they’re all behind these three and making sure that we’re going to be paying attention and watching them…we got their back.”

Carrier was also sure to point out how all three of them are just as good of the field, if not better.

“They’re just, first of all, great human beings, and they’re great representatives of this football program, great representatives of the school and of this community,” he said. “That’s the most important thing, everybody is going to be proud of those three because they’re tip-top citizens.”

And while the jump from high school to the CJFL isn’t an easy one, Carrier knows his former players will succeed thanks to the experience and maturity they’ve all gained throughout.

“It was not that they were just great on the field, they had that great leadership skill and they had those breaks of that great work ethic, where they were putting in the time in the offseason leading up to this so that they ensured themselves that, hey, we are going to be good because we’ve worked for it, not because it’s going to be given to us.”

Carrier is also excited as to what these three have created as far as a feel in Tisdale for the future players to come.

“It’s good for the future of the Tornado program because, at the end of the day, they’re still sticking to their roots, they’re still going to be Tisdale Tornado boys throughout their entire careers and it shows the rest of the community and the rest of these kids that are coming up in the ranks… there’s an opportunity now because these guys are showing me that this is an opportunity that I could succeed in.”
