Halloween Spider Webs A Hazard for Wildlife

Oct 19, 2022 | 9:27 AM

With Halloween fast approaching, we wanted to bring awareness to a common outdoor decoration that can be hazardous to wildlife.

Fake spider web that is commonly strung in trees and hedges can be a danger to a number of species, such as birds and even deer! Birds can fly into the fake webbing, get tangled up and are unable to free themselves. Deer can get tangled in the webbing with their antlers. Getting caught in the webbing can cause the deer to be panicked and stressed. Take a look at the picture of the buck from our friends at Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

Please be mindful of the decorations you put outside, and if you find wildlife in need of help please give our hotline a 306-242-7177.
