Regional and Conference high school volleyball: weekend recap

High school gymnasiums across the province were packed and busy over the weekend where volleyball regionals and conference championships were taking place.

The girls had their regional championships where the top two finishers in the tournaments moved on to provincials, which will be happening later this month. The boys’ 1A and 2A divisions played in their conference championships while the 5A boys played in their regional tournament.

Below is a list of all the regional tournaments that occurred this past weekend and where they happened, along with the winners and other schools that participated starting off with the girls:

GIRLS REGIONALS

1A Girls – Edam

Champion: Edam Royals

Followed by: 2nd Leoville Huskies, 3rd Plenty Wild Cats, 4th Loon Lake Blue Devils, 5th Glaslyn Jets, 6th Kerrobert Rebels

2A Girls – Kinistino

Champion: Naicam Vikings

Followed by: 2nd Wakaw Warriors, 3rd Wadena Wolverines, 4th Porcupine Plain Bears, 5th Foam Lake Panthers, 6th Kinistino Blues

2A Girls – Rosthern Community School

Girls’ volleyball provincials will be played from Nov. 18-19. Provincial schedules and draws will be made available on Monday, Nov. 14.

Boys’ regional tournaments will take place from Nov. 18-19 and schedules and draws will also be released on Monday. Boys’ provincials are slated to take place the following weekend from Nov. 25-26 and the schedules and draws will be released on Nov. 21.
