Listen: Saskatchewan’s most expensive crop was produced in 2021

MELFORT, Sask. – The costs associated with growing a crop and raising livestock hit an all-time high last year.

Statistics Canada said farmers spent roughly $11.5 billion on expenses, 11 per cent higher than in 2020, and the largest year-over-year increase since 2012.

Agricultural Producers Association of Saskatchewan President Ian Boxall calls it the most expensive year ever for farmers.
