Naicam and Rose Valley crowned provincial champions

The sounds of screeching shoes and cheers filled high school gyms across the province this past weekend for provincial volleyball championships.

The 2A tournament was split between Gull Lake and Fairview school.

After finishing the round robin with a perfect record of 4-0, Naicam slid past St Walburg and Davidson, before smashing Langham in the final 2-0.

Wakaw was also competing but lost out to Langham in their opening match of the playoffs.

Rose Valley hosted the 1A girls’ tournament and emerged victorious.

Finishing the round robin at 3-1, Rose Valley beat Plenty and Edam in the playoffs, before bumping off Lampman in the final.

Bellevue finished fourth, losing out to Edam in the bronze medal game.

Nipawin, Melfort and Tisdale were at the 4A tournament in Lumsden. Nipawin finished fourth, Melfort lost out in the playoffs, and Tisdale did not advance past the round robin.

Boys’ Regional Results

The 1A to 4A Boys’ Provincials will take place this upcoming weekend.

Melfort won the Martensville region tournament, securing a spot at the 4A tournament in Meadow Lake.

Among the schools competing at the 2A tournament in Regina will be Birch Hills, which finished third at their qualifier in Hepburn.
