Dec 28, 2022 | 3:00 PM

Update: Charges against Alicia Ballantyne were stayed by the Crown on Feb. 10. Crown has one year to bring case back to court, should new evidence come to light.

A second person has now been charged in connection to a kidnapping and assault earlier this month at Montreal Lake Cree Nation.

Kendell Ameech, 26, of Kinistin First Nation, faces over half a dozen charges including forcible confinement, aggravated assault, assault causing bodily harm, assault with weapon, and theft under $5,000.

A warrant has been issued for his arrest and Waskesiu/Montreal Lake RCMP are actively working to locate him.

Ameech is described as 6-2 and 140 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes and tattoos of crosses on his middle fingers. The letters ‘KA’ are on his right thumb, and the numbers ‘1917’ on his left wrist. He also has assorted tattoos on his forearms.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts, is asked to contact RCMP or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.

On the night of Dec. 18, a man out walking at Montreal Lake Cree Nation, was forced into a vehicle, taken to a residence and assaulted.

He was later able to leave the residence and seek medical treatment for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The co-accused, 26-year-old Alicia Ballantyne from Saskatoon, is facing similar charges and will have her matters spoken to on Jan. 5 at the Montreal Lake circuit court.
