Police look for suspect in violent assault in One Arrow

UPDATE: Police advised that the suspect is not armed as was previously reported.

Wakaw RCMP are looking for a suspect in a violent assault last night in One Arrow.

Police said it appears the victim was targeted and will be patrolling the community looking for the man they suspect committed the assault. They have not released any information about his identity.

Officers said the preliminary investigation shows the suspect used a gun during the assault, which happened about 10:30 p.m. Thursday evening.

Community leaders are being kept informed about what is happening in order to help make sure residents stay safe.

People were advised by community leaders at about 1:30 a.m. to lock their doors and windows, and not stand nearby and not allow anyone in their homes.

The Prince Albert RCMP General Investigation Section has been called to assist, and residents will see an increased police presence on the reserve for an undetermined amount of time.

People should avoid areas where police are present and follow any direction provided.
